About

Singer-songwriter born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Roxana Amed, she worked on six albums as a leader and in many collaborations, she composes her own songs, close to a jazz folk sound and sophisticated poetry. Her albums Limbo (EMI 2004, RCA / Sony Music 2008) and Entremundos (S-Music 2006, RCA / Sony Music 2008), were produced with musician Pedro Aznar and both albums received awards and nominations, and remarkable reviews. In 2009 she produced and directed her DVD The voice beyond (RCA / Sony Music), a live DVD recorded in 5.1 with popular figures from the local scene. In 2010 she released with Adrián Iaies -three times nominated for a Latin Grammy Award- Cinemateca Finlandesa (Acqua Records). The album includes repertoire of Thelonious Monk and Cuchi Leguizamón plus original compositions, and was nominated for the Gardel Awards that year as Best Jazz Album. In April 2011, produced Inocencia (Acqua Records), a recording of her own pieces and classic Argentine folklore. The sound of this album is defined by jazz musicians like Guillermo Klein and Adrian Iaies and figures as Manolo Juarez and Pedro Aznar. In 2011,Amed was guest vocalist in the album El Desembarco, by the legendary Argentinian singer songwriter León Gieco. Last January 2012 collaborated in the last album, released in June 2012 by Adrian Iaies and Horacio Fumero, a jazz/ tango album: Conversaciones desde el arrabal amargo. Recently located in Florida, USA, Amed is working on her new material as a songwriter, with the collaboration of local authors as Jesse Harris. Amed has formed a quintet with Mark Small (sax), Tim Jago (guitar), Josh Allen (bass) and Rodolfo Zuniga (Drums) and they are working on original music and traditional jazz repertoire. Amed is author for SONY/ATV Music Publishing. As a teacher, she is a well-known vocal coach in Argentina, often required to teach in different cities in her country. Amed is a member of The Recording Academy (Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards) and also, as an author, member of ASCAP....
